How It All Started…
So this one is kind of special for me.
A while ago, I was looking to continue my own journey of learning Italian and that’s how I came across Scuola di Lingua Italiana.
A small language school based in Rome, run by two amazing women, Graziana and Carla.
They seemed passionate and experienced, and I really liked their approach to teaching. But something immediately caught my attention… their online presence was almost non-existent.
As someone who’s always curious about websites and SEO, I couldn’t help myself. I checked their website — and found it was just a basic, single-page site with no structure, no SEO, and not much information.
They didn’t even have a blog or multilingual content, which is a big deal if you’re targeting international students.
Turns out, they’d been relying almost completely on word of mouth — and while that had worked in the past, it was clearly holding them back from reaching more people online.
That’s when I got an idea to approach them.

How did I approach them?
I approached them directly and explained what I do and how I could help them grow their business online.
I didn’t promise magic. I just showed them a clear, realistic plan:
- Rebuild their website from scratch
- Optimize it for SEO
- Make it multilingual
- Create a blog and content strategy
- Help them show up on Google for the right keywords
- Set up and optimize their Google My Business
To my surprise, they were not just open to the idea — they were actually excited. We agreed to start working together right away.
My Step by Step Process of working for this SEO Project
Step 1 : Fixing the Website (Took 20 Days)
I spent the first 20 days completely rebuilding their website.
Here’s what I focused on:
- Migrated the website from plesk to wordpress for better management
- Made it multilingual (English + Italian) so that non-Italians could understand everything
- Gave it a clean and modern design that looks way better than their local competitors
- Added more pages to explain their services clearly
- Built in clear CTAs like “Book Your Free Trial Lesson” and contact forms
- Made sure the site looked great on both mobile and desktop
- Set up basic on-page SEO like title tags, meta descriptions, and structured content
Once the new site was live, it already felt like a big transformation.
Step 2: Keyword Research & SEO Optimization
Next, I dove into keyword research to understand what people were actually searching for when looking for Italian language lessons in Rome.
Some of the keywords I focused on:
- Italian language school in Rome
- Learn Italian in Rome
- Italian lessons for foreigners
- Best Italian school for tourists / expats
I also found long-tail keywords and questions that international students often search for.
I used this research to further optimize the content on their pages naturally and without keyword stuffing.
I added proper headings, internal links, and made sure everything was crawlable by search engines.
And Then… Two Students From Russia and Switzerland!

Not even a month into working on their SEO, we got a student inquiry from Russia and Switzerland directly through the website.
That was a huge moment. It showed that the SEO efforts were already working and it gave both me, Carla and Graziana a lot of motivation to keep going.
They were super happy. And I was too. Getting real results so early in the project was honestly the best kind of validation.
What I’m Working on Now?
Now that the website is live and the foundational SEO is in place, I’m focusing on the next important steps:
Blog Content Strategy

I’m working on a content calendar full of blog post ideas that are designed to:
- Target more keywords
- Help foreigners who want to move to or travel in Italy
- Answer common language-learning questions
- Share tips and experiences that could attract students organically
Some post ideas include:
- “Top 5 Italian Phrases Every Tourist Should Know”
- “Why Learn Italian in Rome: A Guide for Expats”
- “Italian Language Tips for Beginners”
- “How to Choose the Right Language School in Italy”
This kind of content will not only bring in more traffic, but also build trust with potential students.
Google My Business (Coming Soon)

Once the blog is in motion, the next step is to optimize their Google My Business profile. Right now, it’s either missing or not performing well — so I’ll:
- Set it up or clean it up
- Add photos, service descriptions, and keywords
- Get real reviews from past and current students
- Make sure it shows up in local search and Google Maps
That’ll give us a huge boost for local SEO — especially for searches like “language school near me” or “Italian school in Rome”.
What This Project Means to Me?
This wasn’t just another client project. It started with me being a student, and turned into a great opportunity to help a local business grow using what I’ve learned in SEO so far.
It’s been about one month, and even though this project is still ongoing, we’ve already:
- Rebuilt the entire website
- Optimized the core pages for SEO
- Got our first international student from Russia
- Started planning long-term content
I’m excited to keep building on this and bring even more students to Graziana and Carla — two passionate educators who just needed someone to help them get discovered online.

Final Thoughts
If you’re a business still relying only on word of mouth — especially in a global city like Rome — you’re missing out on huge opportunities.
A good website, basic SEO, and helpful content can bring in real results faster than you might think.
This is just the beginning — and I can’t wait to see how far this project goes.
